How it went

The TRIBE group presented its 2027 costumes in World Cup style, inviting patrons to wear their favourite team's football jersey. Rhythm sections greeted the crowd from around 7pm, and the first presentations hit the stage just before 10pm. The Lost Tribe showed "Stories of the Sand", Bliss "Horizon", Harts "Cosmic Chaos" and TRIBE "Elysia", whose sections include Pyra, Zorya, Nyx, Nymph, Neoma and Ambrosia.

What it was

The TRIBE group, which runs TRIBE, The Lost Tribe, Bliss and Harts, launched its Carnival 2027 presentations together at the Queen's Park Savannah. The Launch Cup leaned into World Cup fever: patrons were invited to wear their favourite team's football jersey, and football-themed props, attractions and games set the scene. The Rio Times dates the launch to Saturday 4 July 2026; the Trinidad Guardian's report does not give the date.

The 2027 presentations

  • TRIBE: "Elysia", a presentation drawn from Greek mythology ("a world of marble, of myth, of fame", in the band's words), with sections such as Pyra, Zorya, Nyx, Nymph, Neoma and Ambrosia.
  • The Lost Tribe: "Stories of the Sand", inspired by the Arabian Nights and, in the band's words, honouring "the enduring legacy of the Arab-Trinidadian community". The Guardian reported that the band worked with the Syrian Lebanese Women's Association on the presentation.
  • Bliss: "Horizon", inspired by the changing skies from first light to starlit nights. The band spells it in the singular; some press coverage of the launch called it "Horizons".
  • Harts: "Cosmic Chaos".

The Lost Tribe comes into 2027 as reigning Large Band of the Year after winning in 2026 with "Island Circus".
